After you receive an account at NICS, you will receive a RSA OTP token in the mail. Once you receive this, you will need to activate the token and set your PIN using the following instructions in order to start using this method to connect to Kraken at NICS.
- Return the completed NICS token activation form to the address provided on the form. Once the form is received by NICS, the OTP token will be enabled, and you will be notified by email.
- Initiate an SSH connection to kraken.nics.tennessee.edu, for example:
ssh userid@kraken.nics.tennessee.edu
-
When prompted for a PASSCODE, enter the token code shown on the token, for example,
159759in the photo.
- You will be asked if you are ready to set your PIN. Answer with “Y.”
- You will then be prompted to enter a PIN. Enter a 4- to 6-digit number you can remember. Reenter your PIN when prompted.
- You will be prompted to enter your full PASSCODE. To do so, wait until the next token code appears on your token and enter your PASSCODE, which is now your PIN + the 6-digit token code displayed on your token. For example, if the pin was 1111 and the token code was 234432, then the full PASSCODE would be 1111234432.
- Your PIN is now set, and your token is activated and ready for use.
Note: OTP tokens that are not used for a period of three consecutive months will be disabled.
You can log on using the procedure outlined in Secure Access.
