Decommissioned Systems


Darter is a Cray XC30 system with Aries and Sonexion technology for the interconnect and storage respectively, that provide both high scalability and sustained performance.


Nautilus was decommissioned on May 1, 2015. For more information, see Nautilus Decommission FAQs below.

Nautilus is a shared-memory data analysis and visualization system based on the SGI Ultraviolet architecture. It consists of one SGI UV1000 with 128 8-core Intel Xeon processors, 4 TB of memory, and 8 GPUs; and four SGI UV10s, each with four 8-core Intel Xeon processors, 128 GB of memory, and 2 GPUs.


Kraken was decommissioned on April 30, 2014.


HPSS became unavailable to NICS users on June 30, 2016.
