The National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS) is integrally involved in a wide range of projects—both on campus at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and across the nation—aimed at solving some of the most complex problems in science and engineering.
AACE
Established by the University of Tennessee alongside NICS at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2011, the Application Acceleration Center of Excellence (AACE) explores the application of emerging computing technologies to simulation in science and engineering.
Keeneland
The Keeneland project—a partnership between the University of Tennessee, NICS, and Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech)—deploys an innovative high-performance computing system to bring emerging architectures to the open science community.
XSEDE
The Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE)—part of the National Science Foundation’s national cyberinfrastructure ecosystem¬—is the most advanced, powerful, and robust collection of integrated advanced digital resources and services in the world. NICS is a key partner in XSEDE.
