Description
The Java Development Kit (JDK) is a development environment for building applications, applets, and components using the Java programming language. The JDK includes the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

Use
Two flavors of Java are available on Nautilus, one from Sun and one from IBM. To see available versions:
> module avail java
Note that the chart below does not show all available versions, as some are located in different directories.
Then use module load to load the desired version. For example:
> module load java
will load the default Sun version. Once you load a Java module, the Java compiler and interpreter will then be available to use.
