NICS works with many programs to ensure a vast coverage of people are reached. Listed below are a few of these programs.

At NIMBioS, the talents of top researchers from around the world collaborate across disciplinary boundaries to find creative solutions to today’s complex biological problems. As part of their work together, NICS and NIMBioS collaborated on an 3-day HPC Tutorial in March 2009 at the University of Tennessee.

The Institute for Computing in Humanities, Arts, and Social Science (I-CHASS) and the National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville have made available two million additional hours of supercomputing time to projects in the humanities, arts, and social sciences. HASTAC ("haystack") is a network of individuals and institutions inspired by the possibilities that new technologies offer us for shaping how we learn, teach, communicate, create, and organize our local and global communities.

James Ferguson (NICS), Donald Frederick (NCCS), and Bruce Loftis (NICS) presented a workshop, "Introduction to Petascale Computing" at the 2009 Tapia celebration

The Tapia 2009 Conference was aimed at providing a supportive networking environment for under-represented groups across the broad range of computing and information technology, from science to business to the arts to infrastructure.

    NICS Education and Training Partners

NICS supports TeraGrid users and works to bring information about TeraGrid resources to the scientific community.

Oak Ridge Associated Universities partners with NICS in funding four student-faculty internships and engaging in other synergistic activities.

The Institute for Computing in Humanities, Arts, and Social Science (I-CHASS) and the National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville have made available two million additional hours of supercomputing time to projects in the humanities, arts, and social sciences.

    Education and Training Resources

The National Science Digital Library is the nation's online library for education and research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This is a great resource for students and teachers alike. The HPC University (HPCU) is a virtual organization whose primary goal is to provide an on-line environment to share educational and training materials in high performance computing topics. The Computational Science Education Reference Desk (CSERD) is a Pathways portal of the National Science Digital Library, funded by the National Science Foundation. CSERD aims to help students learn about computational science and to help faculty and teachers incorporate computational science into the classroom.
